Question Ratteling noise in the dash?

I have a 97 avenger and a friend of mine has a 98. Both of our cars have a ratteling sound when we hit even light bumps. It sounds like it is coming right out of the dash board, but it could be the suspension? The sound is the exact same in both of our cars so either we have one heck of a coincidence or this is a fairly common problem with these cars?

If you have an aftermarket CD player in, try checking the cage, I had a similar problem in my old car

I have the same problem. I hear a ratteling noise on the dash. At first I thought it was the windshield or one of the air vents. Still haven't figured it out. It might just be a factory problem.

You are a Genius! The rag in the hinge has resolved the problem completely. Thank you for your solution
