If you are having transmission problems, You'll need to pull codes out of the trans controller and post.

i cant pull codes cuz guess what there is no code it doesn't throw a check engine light it just stops yes there is a computer linked to the tranny but it doesn't give u codes it just tells the transmission what to do it isn't as high tech as the new cars are so if i could get a code i would why do u think pullin the batt cables off cancels the limp mode so i think i have a lill more understanding then u do and im only 20 years old and a female and i have worked in a tranny shop so thank u very much learn about the car before u ask for codes on a car that don't have any tranny codes.

Well I have a 96 Dodge Avenger ES 2.5L and my transmission doesn't go into 4th gear, so on the expressway the RPM are very high past about 50mph. I took it to AAMCO and they did a trans scan and it gave up no codes. Do you have any hunches as to why it shifts just fine at low speeds but doesn't go into overdrive for fourth gear?

Yes they do have filters, But thats all i do is just clean them. If there is a pressure circuit fault, then i replace the whole solenoid pack.
