I have a 96 Avenger with the 2.5L V6. When I'm under the car (feet by the front bumper) looking at my exhaust system, could someone please tell me which oxygen senor is which starting from the front of the car back to the cat (ie bank 1 sensor 1 is here, bank 2 sensor 2 is here, & on down the line)???? I pretty much need to replace all of them, but I'd like the know which is which......they all look the same to me.


Also what would happen if I put say...bank 1 sensor 2 where bank 1 sensor 1 is supposed to be? I'm wondering because the local dodge dealer told my husband that bank 1 sensor 2 is the very first sensor under the car (closest to the front bumper). We replaced it.....I haven't gotten an error code for bank 1 sensor 2 again, but I am getting an error code for bank 1 sensor 1. Since the CEL came back on my gas mileage is horrible!!!

 

I thought Bank 1 is front of car , Sensor 1 precat , sensor 2 after cat
Bank 2 rear of engine same config

 

All of my oxygen sensors are before the cat. The only sensor even close to the cat is maybe 1 foot in front of it.
