Question Tranny Issues?!?!

I'm having problems with my transmission. There will be random days when I think my transmission will slip while I'm driving and my engine will start to rev up and while the car is messed up, my rpm meter will be at 6 in order for my car to go at least 60 mph. I did find a temporary way to fix it by turning off the car and then starting it back up, and while the engine is revving i'll press on the gas to rev it up and then go into either reverse or drive depending how i'm parked and then I guess whatever may have slipped caught back on to something, I'm not exactly sure. But then a few weeks later the same problem will come up again. I don't know what to do and any advice right now would greatly help?!?!

I'll ask the simple questions first ...

if your going 60 at 6k rpm thats second gear so it going into limp and bad venge is right check the fluid first. It can be something as simple as that.

wow um yeah 6 grand at 60 is so not second gear that is first and yes could be a fluid issue but sounds for like a selanoid problem if shuting the car of resets it and drives fine i would look more for an electrical issue or computer issue before fluid it may just need the computer flashed

Well I checked my fluids and they were are full a local mechanic told me to flush the old fluids and put in a new kind to see if that makes a difference but if not he said my transmission may need to be replaced soon.

While I was getting my oil changed my mechanic checked my tranny fluid and it was ok and I told him about my situation and he recommended I should flush the old fluid and then put in a new kind and see what happens and he said if the same thing happens then my transmission is going out is he right fellas? Off topic question what's the point and difference in using the overdrive?

If the transmission is going into limp in, yes ck the fluid. 2nd ck for stored codes in the tcm. bad venge is right, only use atf+4. Thats bcause any other fluid will cause the clutch packs to shudder.
