Not Sure how it got unplugged.. But it will still die at idle in park...just not while driving. Which is all that is important now.

Thumbs up 1997 Dodge Avenger ES 2.5L Stalling out

My son purchased an 1997 Dodge Avenger ES 2.5L Automatic with 161K on it, about 2 months ago. He just recently was medically discharged from the Navy.. We had it tuned up and the oil changed, the whole 9 yards, he drove it for about a week and started to notice that it would stall out when he came to a stop. It would start up right away.. We replaced the IAC sensor, it ran good for about a day or two, the same problem, it would stall. We tried replacing the MAP sensor, same thing.. we then treated it with SeaFoam, it seemed to work fine, but for only 2 days, back to the same thing..Stalling, the engine light came on this time. We took it to a mechanic that has worked on my vehicles for decades.. It gave him a code that the Torque Converter was bad.. I took it to a transmission guy which charged me $750.00 to replace the torque converter.. He has been driving the Avenger for 3 weeks now without any problems.. Keeping my fingers crossed,, was told that the torque converter on and Automatic is like the clutch on a manual.. ( when stepping on the brake and not pushing in on the clutch, the car will bog down and stall out).. Was frustrated and tired of paying out of my pocket to fix this..so far so good... hope this helps.
