Default 98 Avenger stalling

OK I am a stalling problem with my 98 2.5... runs fine until you take your foot off the gas... then dies... won't start either unless you have your foot on the gas.... I also found that if I unplug any vacuum line... the car will idle and run fine... what is the vacuum line that is on the throttle body???(think it might be fuel evap) is it ok to run it with that line off??? and the car did have a bad battery.... could the relearning thing be my problem????if so how long does it take???? replaced the EGR valve a few months back... thanks Rick

the IAC is normally the first cause of stalling ... I'd run seafoam thru first and formost
