Default what sensor is this?

I was wondering what sensor is this that i have in front of the transmission, i thought it was the speed sensor but i think i was mistaken. Can someone please tell me what i is? (its the yellow piece), mysymptoms are when im idling at a stop my car starts to jerk like the engine is trying to come out.

I own 96 eclipse rs and i know that the 4 cylinder avengers have the same engine as mine (420a)

so anybody please help

with te coolant lnes looks like an automatic ... unsure on the mitsu using te same tranny as ours A604 tranny ,,, here's the info on it
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1995-20...anny-info.html

the input/output speed sensors won't cause jerking at idle ...

any leak will cause unmetered air to get in and throw off the air fuel ratio and cause stumbling

So does everyone agree??

I plan on driving my avenger for a while (hell, i just got it!)

so instead of doing a head gasket/valve/oil ring job or whatevers going on should i just replace the motor with a new one?

which it is 4cylinder 2.0 if the gas mileage will still be good i wanna drop a v6 3.0 in it.

i love my car damnit. but i dont wanna spend 2,000 or something to fix a motor that will just have problems down the line.

The 2.0 to the 3.0 swap would be a hard one
