how much horsepower can a 41TE automatic tranny handle?

I have a 97 dodge avenger with the 2.5L v6 with the automatic transmission. it is the original stock transmission. i was just wondering how much horsepower it can handle?

Probably around 275 - 300 HP

Your car uses the A604 tranny and 300 is the upper end unless you get a performance rebuild

It seems that these transmissions fail with engines as little as 140hp

I've been running near 300 since 99 ... it's all on the parts/tranny temp ect
