Default Many problems, problems starting.

replaced the alternator 3 weeks ago, had to put a new connection on the alt power wire. yesterday the car lost power and died because my connection came undone. i fixed that last night and the car started last night and this morning, and drove this morning. this afternoon, i it started and a couple of blocks later the gauges started jumping around and a bunch of dash lights came on. then the lights went off except for the cel and the tranny was now in limp mode. i turned around and a block later, it stalled at a stoplight. tried to start it 3 times and the 3rd time it started (not really) and was idleing too low to even register on the tach (i could almost hear each cylinder fire and the whole car was shaking) it then stalled after about 30 seconds. it didnt start again even with a jump. i got it home, rewired the alt again, this time being extra carful and i also charged the battery. it still wont start. it isnt just cranking, it is barley turning over and then stalling. I also noticed that my power wire to my amp (aftermarket) was melted or worn to the copper by a hood bolt if this helps. any help would be great. i am having MANY problems with this car.

yep, putting in an aftermarket stereo with poor workmanship causes this . you have a DEAD short and that's a great way to start the car on fire. this isn't a problem with the car, it's an owner induced problem.\\

yep, you created a dead short which totally overloads the alternator, rapidly discharges the batter and causes all kinds of electrical havoc. rip out ALL NON factory items and just drive the car as it would have come from the factory. Youll have a lot less problems!!!! you won't need the system to pickup the honeys on hwy100.

ok. ive had this happen before. and i know i sound like a moron but the previous owner put this in. and also put in the wrong battery causing the terminals to short out on the hood. and the car was messed up for a couple of days and was then fine when this happened. so if i wait, should it go back to normal? the guy at the shop i go to said i rerouted all of the electricity backwards an it went haywire and i have to wait it out. and that sounds like a good idea, i am considering removing mods
