How to replace EGR-valve?
Hi!
Since I have an idling problem with my Dodge Avenger -96, "bad venge" gave me recommendations to check the intake, egr and IAC, I have done everything but the EGR valve and was now wondering how I may replace this?
Btw, thank you bad venge, it very much seems as it is the EGR-valve! =D
Do I need to loosen the intake manifold or could I do it without that?
I have ordered a Haynes repair manul but havent recieved it yet =(
I believe the EGR is causing the bad idling, and since I have a Sebring coupe 95 I will take the EGR from that car.
PS, a little off-question, I looked at my Sebring coupe -95 today and saw it only had 1 O2-sensor, and my Dodge has 3 O2-sensors of maybe more?
Thanks in advance!
Best regards

all cars w/ OBD2 have a minimum of 2 oxygen sensors. before you just toss an egr at it, diagnose it. find the service test procedure for this component. contact Tizzy in the minivan forum he has access to all the factory service manual procedures.
Hi!
How will I diagnose it? I believe it is the EGR-valve that is causing the bad idling, but since I havent cleaned the intake manifild myself so I dont know how to replace the EGR-valve, I can see it behind the manifold at the right side, but then what? =/
I have one EGR-valve in spare, so that is no cost for me right now, but can I change it without removing the intake manifold, looks like a big job removing that thing =(
What is service test procedure if I mind asking? =D

a factory service manual would be highly advantageous for these questions. get one off ebay or contact Tizzy in the minivan forum, he has access and broadcasts service info and diagrams from the Factory service manuals
Yeah I have ordered one from ebay.
I have also contacted Tizzy1, waiting for a awesome answer =D
PS, it seems that I must remove the intake manifold, dont know if I dare, what if something goes wrong

Here's the QUICK diagnosis remove the two bolts off the rear manifold dead center that hold the egr , take the gasket out and fashion a block off in the shape of the gasket (matching the bolt holes) I use a pop can . reinstall it and tighten the bolts , restart the car and see if it idles correctly if it does EGR is bad
Thanks again!
Gonna do that directly in the morning, its to dark outside now and everybody sleeps =D
PS, Im sorry for not remembering that from your other post in my other thread, but now I know what to do, just hoping the bolts arent rusted apart =D
Good night! =D

Hi again!
I have now done the following:
*Blocked EGR-valve and the idle was still bad
*Replaced IAC and still bad idle
*Replaced battery for a 12 volt 55 ah 480 CCA
But NOW the keydance worked and showed the following code:
1-2-2-1-5-5 which should mean 12 & 21 & 55?
What does that stand for and how can I fix it?
Thanks in advance!

Hi again!
Thank you!
Should I replace the visible O2-sensor after the extractor? I have taking that one from my Sebring today so I will replace that with the one that my Dodge has.
Is it more than one that could be faulthy? I heard about up to 4 sensors but can only se one, it has 4 wires.
Thanks again!
