Default Transmission slip at stoplight / "low rpm"

Hi!

I have allways had this kind of a problem with my Dodge Avenger, with the automatic transmission,

When I start up the car in the morning it works just fine, but after driving a while and when it heats up, the transmission acts funny when I get to a stoplight, the rpm shifts up and down between 300-800 rpm and the automatic tends to slip at 1:st gear. But I wont notice this if I hold the brake all the way until a complete stop. It is only noticeable if I brake the car a bit but not completely stop, and then drive away when the car is still in motion.

What could it be?

Thanks in advance!

Right off the back I would think it was the Idle Air control valve. Have your throttle body cleaned or you can get some seafoam and run that through you vehicle. Silvercoupe wrote up a thread a while back about how to properly use seafoam on our cars a while back I think its called "seafoam for the win" or Seafoam FTW" with a smiley face soemwhere in there.

Check you transmission fluid level and color as well.

Slipping is normally not motor related sounds more of a tranny issue.
bad clutch pacs or restricted passages or bad burnt fluid or a torque convertor issue

My bad ignore that last message I thought you work having problems at a complete stop. I'm thinking more of a torque converter issue or the clutches inside the trans

The slipping does not occur if I accelerate from a complete stop, only if I start to brake a little bit, too lets say 10mph and then accelerate. Then the RPM will jump up and down, first 800 rpm down to 300 rpm and so on.

So there is absolutely nothing wrong otherwise with the transmission, I've read that the 41TE is programmed to slip if the rpm reaches 250 rpm?

The car only has 59k miles on it

Thanks
