1997 Avenger, just picked it up..Tranny Issue..
Hey guys,
just picked up a Black (trunk minor fading) 1997 ES with the 2.5 a604. Aftermarket catback, stock wheels, blue ghost flames on front bumper up onto hood/ fenders. Not bad for $400 Cash. Engine is near flawless with a polished intake manifold believe it or not. The bad.....Transmission fluid was semi-burnt and had metal flakes. Good healthy drip from where transaxle meets engine. No play in CV's and in need of ball joints. (of course)
What have I got here? Pin is loose, spinning into case or even worse? When I brought it home, flushed (drained and poured another quart through)transaxle, and test drove. Crisp solid shifts but leaked a 1/4 Quart of ATF4 a minute roughly.
Any ideas before I jack and drop it?
