Default Heater core question

On my 2000 Veng, I have white smoke coming from the cabin vents. I have never experienced anything like this. I am suspecting a bad or clogged heater core but not really sure. Has anyone ever experienced this problem before? If so, how hard is it to get to the heater core?
Thanks
Dave

Have you checked coolant levels ? This could indicate a leak in the heater core
have you checked the passenger side carpets? are they wet?

Yes coolant is good, engine is running at normal temp (temp gauge is right in the middle). No wet carpet. There is a faint musky smell when I notice the ghost like smoke.
BV.. Do I need to take the dash out to get to the heater core? Do you think flushing out the radiator would help?
