Hey guys I have a 2000 dodge avenger base that went dead on me and will not start back up, it started with me noticing that it was running a tad bit warmer than usual, so I stopped and put some antifreeze in the reservoir and the car sputtered than died. Also noticed a good amount of motor oil coming from the distributor itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated

 

Sounds like a cracked head or block

 

Is that a hard repair, is it something I can do at home with limited knowledge? Or is it best to take it to a shop?

 

Unsure on your ability but I'd say SHOP ...

 

did you try and spray some starting fluid in the throttle body? might just be vapor locked

 

Did you READ that there is oil coming out of the distributor ? He has other bigger issues then vapor locking ...

 

By limited ability I mean I can change belts and the alternator and stuff like that other than that I don't know much about under the valve cover
