Default 2000 dodge avenger transmission help!!!!!!

Hello All,

im very much a newb to automobile forums and I try to absorb as much automobile info as I can. Thanks for visiting my thread.

I have a 2000 dodge avenger with about 119k on it. One day on the way home from work i noticed smoke coming from the hood of my car. by the time i got it home my transmission was jerking bad n was leaking considerable amounts of fluid. Now it will not move in any gear. All it does is just rev up to high rpm's and that is it.

Can anyone possibly tell me if this is the end of the line for this tranny, or can this possibly be salvaged without making my wallet hurt.

thank you

Have you determined where the leak is coming from?....Could be a ruptured cooling line..If so, replace it and ride again...

yes if you lost a cooling line they are the front drivers corner to the radiator

you could have also lost a pin that breaks the case and leaks out

hey guys,

thank you so much for your input i have determined that the leak is coming from the area around the drivers side tire.

What does that sound like to you guys?

thank you very much

Drivers side = left side?.....If so, all that is there is a metal cover, I doubt it would be damaged.....possibly the left axle key broke allowing the axle to slide out just enough to leak oil? One other thought I have is that it actually blew oil out the vent, its kinda located on the left side of trans...what to do now is add fluid and see if it leaks immediately..If not, it probably blew it out for a reason that will have to be discovered, but if it leaks immediately, it should be easy to determine where...
