timing belt
I was refering to the pistons, but now realize that I am a idiot, that is how the pistons are made, I have the heads off and have rotated them several times the valves seal completely and the shafts are straight, the belt didnt actually come off but the water pump seized and melted it, I now have the engine tore down to the block. I can easily get newer heads but my seem fine. I think just a new gasket kit, timing belt, and water pump and I should be good to go.
man what a project!!!! I got most of it back together, I cleaned the crap outta this bad boy, had it tore down to the block. Lotsa parts got put on but it's runnin strong so worth it. of course some things broke and I'm still in need of a altenator, pcv valve and a couple bolts. she starts and runs strong sounds good. now the question. my oil pressure gauge no longer works. I know it's pumpin cause I get oil shootin out the oil passages in the heads. I did get lotsa stuff in the piston wells prior to reassembly, mostly cleaning solution, oil, and of course it rained hard one night when I had the hood off. I have of course changed the oil, ran and changed the oil again (thank goodness oil prices aren't up....oh wait a minute forgot who was president) oil is clean, oil pressure seems present but nothing on the guage. It worked prior to tear down but was wondering if water, cleaning solution caused it to stop or is it because I dont have the altenator on therefore providing no voltage? think they work off ground but?????????
are there 2 sending units for the oil pressure? one for the idiot light and 1 for the guage? by the filter there is 1 with a wire attached facing the passenger side, there looks to be another 1 facing the drivers side that has a wire close to it but hanging freely, i may have broken this wire putting the exhaust back on but it doesnt look like it attaches to anything.
got it just slips over, everything works, test drove it and me likey thanks for all the help....found a nice 3.0 in a seebring today of course after I have it all done and together but something to think about.
