timing belt
okay, I was taking the valve covers off because of plug well gaskets leaking causing distributor to short out, now I can see the tops of the timing belt on both sides of where the valve covers used to be, should I be able to move the belt back and forth on the pulley??? I would imagine it would be tighter than that? I did have to push the car into the driveway, but I wouldn't think it would be that moveable
I'm screwed!!!!!! got everything off but the lower timing cover and crank pulley, the belt is on there but I could slip it off if I wanted to it also looks like me dogs chewed on it. I assume the valves are bent from what I'm reading here is there a way to tell with out getting a new belt and reassemble?
wow loads of questions ;;;
Do the timing marks still line up ? If its off more then 3 teeth the valves are likely bent
You can pull the heads and examine them
the 3.0 swap is likely less costly but low mileage 3.0's are getting hard to find

sorry, add kicks in and I gotta get all questions out before I see something shiney. What about the heads will any avenger 2.5 95-00 work? I have plenty to choose from here, I'm gonna pull them off later when I wake up, but probably bad cuz the belt is just hanging there so I'm assuming it skipped quite a few teeth.
