Default 1996 Dodge Avenger Camshaft Positioning Sensor Location?

I have a '96 Avenger, 2.5L, V6. I need a new Camshaft Positioning Sensor in it, and I cannot find this thing. The repair manual says it's in the distributor, and you must buy it with the distributor as well, but at Advance Auto they just sold us the sensor alone. We took apart the distributor and there is absolutely no way it goes in it.

The cyllinders are misfiring like crazy in idle, and the codes came up as Camshaft Positioning Sensor, and several cyllinders misfiring. I took it to the shop cuz it broke down, and they replaced the timing belt and water pump. But the grinding noise of the cyllinders is still present.

Is the sensor located in the area with the timing belt/pulleys? In that case, they coulda simply put it in while down there, but didn't. They mentioned the grinding noise, told me it seemed to be coming from the cyllinders, and was not sure what it was. Obviously didn't even run codes on it.

Yes it's internal to the Distributor , But MANY parts stores confuse the Cam Position sensor to the Crank position sensor , Does it have a threaded nose ?
