Wiring amps, have ?'s about front speakers

Bad Venge. I bought some new 3 inch square tweeters that seem to work. My plastic on my old speaker was brittle from the heat and cracked. Do you attach your 301 to the grill and just lay it in the hole, or do you try to use the old speaker frame? For now I have the new tweeter mounted inside the old speaker frame and it sounds good. I bought jamo 2 inch from parts express. They are 3 inch corner to corner. I could have mounted them to the grill only but I didn't like the fit. So I glued the frame back together and it fits snug now. Your thoughts please. I would have bought 301 tweets, but people want a fortune for used speakers and I didn't want to take a chance on used items.

The 301's are direct replacement , they fit in the old opening, grills fit overtop like the stockers. I don't have any familiarity with the ones you bought so can't say , on smaller tweeters I have used plexiglass , used a hole saw to cut the round blank then a smaller hole to fit the tweeter

I replaced the driver side yesterday. I disassembled the old speaker frame carefully and mounted the new speaker inside the old frame. I had to cut the old metal speaker bracket and modify to fit. So far so good. If I get a chance I will post pics.

Here is a few pics of the project.
The speaker I bought.
I rounded the square corners.
I took the old one apart and cut the speaker out with a dremel type cutter. Then I put the new speaker in between the old plastic frame and the modified old speaker frame. I did round off the new speaker so that it fit very well. I used a soldering iron to remelt the plastic tabs that hold the metal to the plastic ring.
The finished tweeter.

I have another question. Does the polarity really matter on speaker connections? It seems hard to detect polarity on infinity speakers. They are not marked. Does anyone know which wires are pos and neg? When I hook the new ones up I want to be correct. If you did hook it up backwards would you notice a difference in sound? What wire is pos and neg in the harness? I know which is pos and neg on the speaker.

I was more concerned about the harness. I put a voltmeter on the speaker wires and get normal volts one way and negative volts when I switch wires. I downloaded an eclipse schematic for infinity systems but my readings are opposite from what the schematic is telling me. The schematic says that my wires with the white stripe are pos and my meter says opposite. I hooked them up based on my meter and they sound good.
