Default engine stalls

Occasionally at idle - engine starts to run very rough (stumbles) for about 20-30 seconds (cannot touch gas pedal) then stalls - it will restart right away & then runs/idles well.

Today it acted up like this while starting engine.

All other times engines starts & runs smoothly at speed or idle.

The computer has NO error codes.

It does not matter if engine is warm or cold and does not matter if weather is dry or wet.

It might do this about ONCE per week.

Only does this at idle - NEVER AT ANY SPEED ABOVE IDLE

either EGR valve sticking open or bad IAC ,
On the passenger side rear of manifold EGR valve tube comes in block it off with a metal piece and if it stops doing it bad EGR
If not remove and clean IAC

My sons mazda 626 did this. The electronics are mainly Mitsubishi. We had to replace the crankshaft sensor. The car was stalling at idle. Plan B in case the egr and iac are good.

Default idle

but remember it only runs rough & stalls occasionally ... other than that it idles per specs .. and most sensors throw an error code ... that's the problem I'm having ....no codes and only the occasional stall .. it runs real rough like dieseling...and I can't touch the throttle. And it runs app. 200-300 rpm and some lights in dash may or may not flash a couple of times....

Same symptoms that my son had. No cel or error codes. Some one on a forum told me to clean the crank sensor. It was covered in crud. It quit stalling and started misfiring some of the time. the cel came on finally, so we replaced the crank sensor.

Had the same problem. Replaced the EGR, still stalling. Replaced nearly every sensor in the engine..... turns out it WAS the EGR and the new one I bought had a vacuum leak..... Sumbitch

Default stalling

So far all is working well AFTER I replaced the ASD relay (center one of the 3 - on drivers side firewall). 1st I bought a new 'universal' one at the Source (Radio Shack) for $11. I installed it using its own bracket (I moved the assy over 1 bolt hole) and mounted it to the firewall. I went shopping and when I went to start the car, it ran like a diesel - stumbling and barely running at 300 rpm with most of the dash lights flashing. I unplug the relay and plugged it into the 'original' one which I left in place - car started. I moved the cable back and forth 5 times from the new cheap one to the original .. and the same all the time - The new one. Dieseling...original one .. starts. I went to Canadian Tire and ordered the OEM replacement .. and it's been running/starting A-1 ... perfect idle..smooth running at all speeds.

I found a place in the USA where you can get all 3 including bracket from a Chrysler OEM parts source for about $52.00 ... too bad its not in Canada!!!

http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/ look ay year, model and part...

Next ... new water pump ... leaking all over the place (ordered full timing kit from RockAuto.com .. $136.00 ..... about $400-$500 here in Canada
