Default 1998 Avenger SE A604 Transmission PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey, My 98' SE is doing something so very strange. When I start the car up, and try to put it in Drive, Reverse or any other gear besides neutral the car does not move. When you try to press the gas, it acts like its under load or as if all 4 brakes were applied but the car still refuses to budge. Here is where it get stranger; with the car running, it wont roll either, no matter how hard you push it whether in drive, neutral, or reverse the car wont give and inch, but when you turn off the motor, it rolls around just fine.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks =)

Have you checked the fluid level? also you say it feels under load? Have you replaced brakes or wheels or anything recently? sounds silly but i have seen people torque down wheel that rub on calipers and wonder why the car wont move =P

Yes, the fluid is nice and red .Doesn't smell burned at all. I tried to disconnect the solenoid pack to force it into limp mode but no change. The wheels are torqued on fine. The car will roll back and forth fine when it isn't running, but as soon as you fire it up it wont budge.

Sounds like the pump failed / no fluid movement = no car movement ...
A trip to the tranny shop can scan codes but sounds like your tranny is toast
