I just bought a 98 avenger. I have these rims on it.

Are these stock rims? I dont really think so but I could be totally wrong. If not, can someone tell me what size tires stock rims use? This is going to be my winter car and I want it to have regular rims and tires.

They look like stratus coupe wheels. Having larger rims/tires isn't going to hurt anything in the winter as long as you have the right tire.

215/50r17 as simmonsfr said is the correct size

These tires barely have any grip in the rain but they have plenty of tread. I would hate to see what snow is like. lol.

Tires, I believe have traction ratings as well as wear ratings. Your tires may have a low traction rating.

That's in the tire not the size. For winter a softer (high traction rated), lower wear rated tire has always done well for me.

My dd has performance tires on it and does great year round, so don't think you're going to need snow tires to get around, just good tires and common sense.
