1997 Avenger ES stalling
Hello,
I have a 1997 ES 2.5 engine that runs fine but when if you do not accelerate and give it a lot of gas it will stall. It does not run rough and even idles fine but if you just barely give it a little bit of gas, like if you are stopped at a light or something and need to move up a little bit it sometimes stalls. The car has around 150,000 easy miles on it and I do normal maintenance on it but I have not changed the fuel filter in a while. I am not sure if that is the problem or if the throttle body could be dirty.
What do you think could be the problem.

I was told by a friend of mine in Florida who runs a repair shop that it could be the TPS switch. Where would that be located. Also, the engine light is on and has been for a while so I will have that scanned when I go to the auto parts store.
If the light is on, the car is literally telling you wants wrong. No sense guessing and throwing parts at it hoping for a fix. Get the code read. That will at least give you a starting point.
Rough idle to stalling; if EGR
Take the vacuum hose from the intake plenum to the EGR off the EGR.
Put a vacuum cap on the plenum nippe, then put the vacuum hose back on.
This will keep the EGR closed.
I had one a long time ago, and was an EGR valve.
