Default another engine swap question

Okay, here is the deal. I am thinking of getting this Avenger. It is a 2.0 automatic. Can I put a 2.4 and manual in it from, say, a Stratus,,, assuming I can find it. OR can the same manual fit both the 2.0 and 2.4? I ask this because I am looking to race it in the local oval-track circuit for 4-cylinders. I cannot modify the engine or anything in any way. But I want to get the 2.4 in there in place of the 2.0, and, obviously, put the manual in there. I am sure I would need the linkeage, clutch, flywheel, trans. Probably that is all. As far as engine, I am sure i could just swap out the ECM for the 2.0 and put in an ECM for a 2.4. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Default RE: another engine swap question

I know that if it is a computer controlled drive systems, like automatics, you can not swap trans out. There are different sensor and different "speed sensors" within each type of trans. However, I am about 80% sure that you can swap the 2.4, 2.0 because all the smaller engine (2.0, 2.4) are the same trans (for auto/stick). Chrysler as always done this. The only thing you will have to watch is the engine #(matching) and trans#. Also, sometime chrysler changes the computer or fuel/air systems sometimes 2yrs. within models.
