Replacing Speakers In 95 Avenger w/Infinity
Purchased a 95 Avenger which had the Infinity CD w/6-speakers. The head unit didn't work and so I replaced with a JVC with CD / Sirius. Now I am noticing the front speakers are blown and the door speakers don't sound real great.
Can someone give me the specs and sizes of what I need to be looking for to replace the speakers? Thinking I might as well replace the rears as well. I assume since I won't have the factory equalizer, they'll need to wire the fronts and the sides together?
Obviously, I haven't done much "audio shopping" before, I just want to know what size, etc to look for when going shopping.
Thanks,
Craig

Go to www.circuitcity.com or www.crutchfield.com both will show you whats speakers fit your car and show you ones you can buy.
They are a sort of component set up...the crossovers were built into the speakers, well, caps and resistors, lol.
The dash speaker covers just pop off btw. I believe the dash speakers are 2.5" (don't bother looking for direct replacements), the doors are 5.25" - 6.5", and of course 6x9s in the rear.
Keep in mind, unless the speakers were replaced...those are 11 year old speakers.
Also, unless you get a component set...just get a decent set of speakers for the front and rear. My 2

Check and see if you can send a Low Pass filter to the front speakers. Some of the nicer decks are able to do this. I've got a 96 and when a good tune comes on I like to turn it up, it still has the stock infinity in it, I just set different filters for the front, the rear and my subs. Just my thoughts.
Here's something I just remembered...if you just plug in the aftermarket wire harness (metra or whatever), you utilize the stock amp...thus utilizing the stock filters from the amp....problem with that is, your front door spkrs will sound muffled.
How do you know if your Avenger comes with Avenger w/Infinity or standard?
The reason why I ask is that my door speaker on the driver's side is about to go. So, I want to get the right speaker.

Mine has an amp mounted on the rear deck. Open the trunk, look under the rear deck...inbetween the two 6x9s and there's where the amp is.
if you are going to put a system in the car dont even worry about 6/9 the woffers will distort them any ways so just go with a good set up for the front speakers but if your hell bent on 6/9 get some bass boomers.
