Is there any way to change the stock trans shift points for beter performance?
i just bought a 1997 es for 2000$ had a check engin light on but a new o2 sensor fixed that problem now i just need to replace a lower left control arm and ill have a great car but i have a question on geting more lower end power, and better shifts out of the trans sugestions any one?
Hi BL18 and welcome to DF.
Have the lower left control arm dealer checked because the the balljoint is a recall item (lower balljoints). Research the Stratus final drive gear for a tad of power and shift points...there's really nothing out there to change our shift points but an aftermarkeg torque converter will help with shifts and so will a transgo shift kit.

dam got my hopes up on that recall i guess it was only on the straight arm the one thats bad is the back curved one they want 450$ know any cheep part places?
Well, that sucks, lol. Did they do a check on them anyway? They should have while they were there. That recall is good for the life of the vehicle btw, not only to the original owner...don't let them tell you anything different.
Check with autozone or the likes. If they have more that one, look at all of them all at once if possible. My experience with autoparts stores having more than one is that the cheaper one is not the correct size (too short/long) or something just isn't the same. I can't think of what part you're talking about right off the top of my head, but isn't that just a bushing or is that a balljoint?

One of them might be Mitsubishi listed (usually the cheaper one). Call a Mitsu dealership and cross referrence the part numbers.
Another thing that it could be is, it just being a cheaper quality design. Those things are hard to tell online though.
