Thanks for this..got 2 keyfobs for 10 bones today and now have keyless entry. Might want to add you need to remove the key for the fob to work... took me a bit to realize that.. maybe thats common knowledge?

But really, thanks!

I went through the programming instructions and everything went great. The doors locked and unlocked like expected, I programmed 2 remotes and they locked and unlocked again saying the codes were recieved. However when I tested the fob it still did not work. The only thing that works on each fob is the panic button. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

Thanks

  1. Enter your car, and turn the ignition to the "Run" position. Wait for the car's chimes to automatically stop, then press and hold the "Unlock" button on your previously programmed remote.
  2. 2
Hold the "Unlock" button for 10 seconds, then press and release the "Panic" button as you release the "Unlock" button.
  3. 3
Wait for another chime, then press any button on any other remote you would like to program to sync them to the system. Turn off the ignition when done to end the programming sequence.

I'm following these directions and for the life of me I can't get the locks to cycle after I ground pin 1. Is there another way to get to pin 1 (or where it goes) or another way to program a remote? btw mine is a 97 avenger es if that helps

Question

I am having the same problem. I have followed the directions word for word and cannot get my locks to cycle. Locks work fine from the switches. I have jumped pin 1 and 4 and I have ground pin 1 to the chassis. Makes no difference. 96 Avenger ES. Car purchase used and did not come with a remote. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.
