Tranny Question and some parts needed!!!
Hey whats up guys I have a 1997 2.5 avenger and my tranny will slip outta gear and then when i let go of gas it catches the gear again. i tried a fluid change and changed it with the atf+3 mopar. It seems like it does it from 2nd to 3rd but not quit sure? Do u think i should just get a new tranny in? if so have any of u guys done one and seein how long it took?? also i need some parts if anyone can help out
1.both headlights
2.the vents in the door panels both sides
3.both side speaker grilles

Hi Todd,
When does the tranny slip? Does it do it when it warmed up or cold or both? A couple things come to mind on this, the tranny relay on the firewall and the clutch pack. Oh and tranny heat, I guess that makes three. I'd like to eliminate the heat factor though.

silvercoupe is there any way to test these without buying new ones? i was gonna take it to cottmans but its kinda like a project now it isnt inspected or plates or nething so i have no way of taking it anywhere else thanks all ur help is greatly appreciated

How many miles are on the car? Do you have any idea of how it was treated before you got it?
I would suspect the relay, the tranny fluid, the clutch pack, then torque converter, then the entire tranny and in that order. As for testing, idk. I asked about the temp because, it seems to be a major factor with any auto tranny but a big one for the a604/41TE.

about 126k on it. when i changed the tranny fluid there were some flakes in there so thats why i was thinking just changing out the tranny. im not sure how it was treated b4 me, but im thinking i should just go for the whole tranny what about you? or do u know where i could get them parts from besides the dealer
