Stuck in 2nd gear...
silvercoupe...i saw 3 there that i could switch, and i moved each one to the right once, and it still had no effect.
update: it still sometimes goes into limpmode while i have overdrive turned off. *angst*

Well, it could be a few things. The CPS, the distributor's cam shaft sensor, the PCM, the clutch pack, the torque converter, even the fluid. I'm probably forgetting something, but those are about the most common...so to speak.
i may take it to autozone and pull the codes off of it for myself and post them up here. fluid's not the problem, first thing i did actually. shop still says it needs a rebuild.
how would the torque converter cause this? out of those things you listed, what would be the hardest to change out?
let me restate the absolute current symptoms:
normal for about 2 minutes.
say, going down a hill, and accellerating to go back up. trans is in neutral.
rev it a couple of times, and snaps into second.
doesn't downshift at all. goes to neutral ON OCCASION for a few minutes when you let off the gas.
after about 5-8 minutes of driving though, permanent limp mode.
i don't want to shell out $1400 big ones but i will if i have to.
