If you think about it, the "tornado" effect is stopped as soon as it gets into the plenum. It actually slows the air down because the item itself is a "bump in the road" which in turn tells the o2 sensor that the motor is getting less air and it cuts back on the fuel. So, I can see it saving gas, but I can't see it giving any performance. Although leaning out an already semi-rich factory setting can net a little power, but not the HP gains stated in any of those adds.

for extra loudness....i tried both. straight pipe, and stock exhaust without the main cat. straight pipe was just too loud for my taste, so i ripped out the cat and welded some pipe in it's place. that matched with my cold air intake has a nice sound, not too loud but loud enough. but like silver said, you won't net any extra power from doing so. just a little bit of loudness =]

I never had a CAI on any of my wips, I seen them on other ppls cars and they never made any sound to me. Except for that one diesel but thats cuz it was at high rpms and it was turbo equipped.
