Default misfire?!! or something else?

Recently my 1996 Avenger ES started giving me trouble.I would often stall out on small trips and would lose power. This was the first major problem i have encountered after 160,000 miles so i cant really complain, but it has been off the road for a fewweeks and i cant figure ou the exact problem. I did the "key dance" and got the codes formy pistons misfiring. I replaced the distributor and its components, and stillno fix. I took it to one place and they said my EGR valve was not right so they fixed that and it was good for about a week, but then the same problem arose. Do you guys haveany suggestions for me. Any idea what it could be?

I would suggest changing your fuel after sitting a while it might b old and try ur fuel pump. Are you letting your car warm up before you drive it?

yeah i replaced everything that you might think was the problem right off the bat. Plugs wires whole distributor, but still nothing. I used to drive it daily and would always let it warm up before I drove it. another thing i noticed was the spark plugs when i first pulled them were covered in oil. talked to a mechanic and he said that its normal and because of the way that you pull them out it was hard to tell if it was actuully on the sparkplug to begin with or if it was dripping down from the housing when I pulled it out. Could this be another problem I have to fix before I get my car back to its normal state.

Please help me here I'm driving a chevy cavalier right now and with every passing telephone pole i think about plowing right into it. Its hell because i also have a 1992 Dodge stealth r/t twin turbo that i just picked up fro really cheap and that has transmission problems and I can't seem to find anyplace that can rebuild them or anyplace that is selling a transmission fir it. I just can't wait any longer to get back in a dodge...any help is good help

Yeah im thinkin bout investin in sum of dat but don't wanna do all those oil changes cuz i run Sythetic.

As far as oil on your spark plugs thats a common issue for us. The is a post up around here. I think u just hafta replac the valve cover gasket.

Trans for the Stealth you might just hafta ship it out or head out of town 2 get it dun.

I'm leaning towards the relays on the firewall and/or CPS.
I'm not sure what the EGR valve has got to do with it, because it's either clogged or not and anything inbetween to clogged, can cause low gas milage to knock (not really for n/a though, more for emissions than anything nowadays).
