Default Trunk Lid Trouble and Pits

After getting my 98 Sport as a graduation gift, i noticed my trunk never looked all the way closed when it really was. My dad said that the lady that had it before me had someone run into the back of her car or somethin.

any thoughts on what it could be?

i know nothing about trunks but im leaning towards a bent hinge or something. I'll try to assess the situation tomorrow.

Also, i've got alot of pits in the paint job, mostly on the front bumper and hood. I was wondering if i could remedy this with some nail polish style touch up paint and some sanding.

oooh, and one more thing, ive got a really big gash in the paintjob (about 6 inches round off and on like snake scales) on my passengers side rear bumper from backing into something. Any cheap kits i can get to repair that sucker?

That actually could be faulty wiring, something not touching 100% all the time, or the little button that presses down to turn off your lights in the trunk when its closed is stuck.

I had the same problem on my 96 ES. If you follow the wire from the light you will find the little switch that turns the light on/off. Mine was jamed/gumed. I cleaned it and made sure the switch moved correctly. If I remember the switch is right next to the lock on the lid and the switch is a small switch with a silver blade that clicks a small button in the switch.

Hope this helps.
