Default SilverCoupe97 Thanx man... w/o even typing

I just wanted to say thanx to SilverCoupe97. I've never talked to you but I just found this site today and found some related questions about my 2000 Venger and found that you had answered nearly all of the questions. Lets just say that i've printed off your answers to show them to my mechanic to help him out. That's cool. The questions dealt with the limp mode that the tranny falls into.(2nd Gear) This is my fourth mechanic trying to figure out the problem. I've had replaced relays, tranny flushes(although i think im going to check out that MOPAR ATF+3), and just now a new tranny computer was put into my car. It's crazy. So hopefully what i've read from your answers to other peoples questions, i can solve the problem with my car. Thanx Again SC.

Fellow reader,

BlackVenge

P.S. Any other comments....let me know

Thanx for the reply Just wondering, do you think that if i flushed the tranny fluid out and put in MOPAR ATF+3, would this maybe help my problem? Is that the right fluid for my tranny? 2000 ES, V6, 2.5L? Or is there a different fluid for this model? I'm not sure what speed the car is, It's just got D,2,L.

I'm going to check on the tranny fluid that was used i while back. The problem didnt start to occur until i had a tranny flush. Not long after anyway. The mechanic was from a Ford dealership because that was one of the best around, also the Dodge dealership was 30 miles away. Like you said, i didnt have any idea that the avengers took a specific tranny fluid, and im thinking my mechanic didnt quite know that either.

You're help has been greatly appreciated.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanx

I do think the fluid plays a major role on how the tranny behaves, granted, the other components do too but the fluid is it's "blood"...the same as what oil is for a motor (put the cheap stuff in and it's viscosity breaks down before 3k miles). I've experienced it and others have too and using different fluids other than MOPAR ATF+3 or ATF+4 (for the later A604 variables) resulted in a negative behavior from the tranny.
To me, that pricey amount for MOPAR ATF+3 is much less than new tranny components and anyone telling you to use cheaper fluid "because they are all the same" just to have a 50/50 chance that they actually work, doesn't seem right to me. Another thing to note is that not all ATF+3 is created equal.
You've already eliminated the other possibilities, other than the actual tranny and it's solenoids, so I'd start with the fluid. If that doesn't solve your issue, then the solenoids are gone. If you have metal shavings in the fluid, then it's the tranny....or both [:@]
Start with the fluid, it costs less than the tranny and solenoids, lol.

Turns out my mechanic did use mopar atf 3. It was shown on the dipstick what kind he was supposed to use. So for now i have to take his word for it. My newest mechanic and the later ones all told me that the actual tranny acts fine and shifts good too. Yet the thing still sends a message to the tranny computer to put it into limp mode.
When ran through the scanner it comes up as transmission/relay connection. The wires are good from what they can tell and new relays plus a new tranny computer has all been put into it. It seems to me that there's something else that in a way is tricking the car into putting itself into limp mode.

So far nobody has been able to help me out really. I just keep putting more money into the thing. I'm almost wondering if a new transmission would be the best thing. When i think of that though, i get to thinking that even if a new one was put into the car, who says that the same thing couldnt occurr because the other problem was never fixed. It's frustrating as hell.

I'm not sure what to do. I was just hoping that it was the fluid. Fat chance i guess.
If you can give any other advice id be greatful.

Thanx again SilverCoupe97
