When I am at a steady speed usually above 60mph it will studder and miss realy bad, the rpms will jump all over the place but if I accelerate it stop till I let off the gas again. Any ideas? It obviously sounds like a tranny problem. This happens, yet the CEL doesn't appear to come on at all??? Another big factor maybe the transmission computer itself. The computer controls the actions of the tranny...obviously....If this is going bad it may be the factor of throughing the rpms off. Does it feel like the gears are just dopping out?

Also have the relays checked.....or in extreme cases it could be the wiring from the relays to the computer, things may look deceving but a small amount of corrosion could cause a large amount of problems. Have it looked at and go from there.

Thanx and i hope i can help. Also get ahold of SilverCoupe97, he's got some of the best brains around here

thanks guys but not sure. I have a 5 speed. 2.0 Now all the sudden it will just shut off, like stall out and will not start back up unless I wait a few minutes or just keep trying and when it starts it will act like its loading up. or not getting fuel but if I mash the gas it will work it out and Idle ok. Could this be a sensor or EGR valve?

does your check engine light flash when it is shuddering? flashing denotes a misfire, i experienced this in a similar vehicle, but without the rpm jumping. this particular vehicle had a combination of clogged injectors and a vacuum leak. under acceleration the injector opened far enough to compensate for the extra air, but not enough when at very little throttle or no throttle. i popped a code from it, though. you didn't say anything about a code, just wondering. how is your idle? high? eratic?

Just shuts off, eh? It's starting to sound like the CPS to me. I will look for you.

I think I have a combo of a vacume leak and a bad CPS the CPS had some oil on the wire harness when I unplugged it. so gonna try that and fix small vac. leak @ back of intake manifold. Thanks for the help let you know how it turns out.
