no sir ... the pontiac grand prix gt 1 is not 200 hp the basic pontiac grand prix is. the pontiac gt1 is the same engine but supercharged to 265 hp. but the engine itself is 200 but the gt trim adds 65 horsepower... and plus its a 3.8 v6. 3800 series and from my understanding those are very good powerful engines. But everyone says the gt only has 200hp which is false. the engine by itself is 200 hp but the gt trim for the grand prix ads a supercharger which makes 265 horsepower. look it up on google if u dont believe me... i test drove it today and its a very fast, very sharp vechicle..

scratch that the car is actually a 04 pontiac grand prix gtp the dude at the dealership screwed it up. no wonder it says gtp on the steering wheel lol... but is a gtp a good car to upgrade i mean its not the base model its a lil more higher end... but i mean do you think it really even needs to be upgraded?

Ok, for starters, the only supercharged model Grand Prix's prior to 2006 were the GTP models. From 97-03 they were available in both sedan/coupe, and from 2004-current in only a sedan form. The 97-03 models were 240hp cars, sporting the 3800 Series II V6 motor with a Gen 3 Eaton S/C.

The 04 model GTP however, got a 20hp boost to 260hp/280ftlbs torque. They also got the new 3800 Series III V6 motors along with a Gen 5 Eaton S/C. They push out about 9psi. The only supercharged Grand Prix GT model is the 2006-2007 models....as that's when the GTP was replaced by the GXP, a LS4 V8 powered Grand Prix. The GTP became the GT....

If you have the chance to get a GTP, then it's absolutely worth it.....every car has its share of problems, but the car is quite reliable and a good sized car. The only knock is you have to run premium fuel for maximum performance....

You dont need to upgrade it, as it's a 15 sec flat car stock.....but for less then 2k in parts you can put the car at almost 300hp to the wheels....which is what I'm doing....

That's my GTP Comp G
