Default Need help - I am hearing wearing sounds coming from my front suspension.

When I hit bumps and turning my steering wheel, I keep hearing a squeaking sound. Especially, when I turn the steering wheel, it feels like it is knocking onto something.

I thought maybe my shocks and struts are worn and need to be replaced and I am hoping that is the problem but I have a feeling is more to the sound.

Does anyone hear know what I am talking about?

It could be your balljoints. Does it creak and squeak when you turn the steering wheel sitting still or only while driving? At what speeds, if only while you're driving?

Trying reading previous post about ball joints and noises, and comparewhat noise they described to what your dealing with now.I'll try to bring most of them to the top for you.

When I am turning the steering wheel right or left, I hear the knocking sound. I mostly hear it at slow speeds and when the car is still.

And I noticednow that my car nose dives when Ipress the brakes at certain speeds.
If I have to stop suddenly after going fast, it nose dives. I guess my shocks and struts are worn out. I don't see any leaks though but when I drive, my car sounds like it rubbing on metal.

If it is the ball joints, how much do you think it will cost to have them replaced?

The lower arm balljoints are actually a recall item on the dodge avengers. You can find the info at the top in the Dodge Recalls link in red. Don't be decieved though, there are other balljoints in the car. I just had mine replaced on recall about a month ago.

Good Luck
Thanx,
Ben
