Default Oil squirting from oil fill hole while running?

Okay, so my girlfriend is about to buy a 1998 Dodge Avenger that looks really clean. But when it was running, I popped the hood and opened the oil fill cap, and it was actually squirting oil out on each revolution. I have always heard that if you put your hand over that while it is running, and air (or oil) is blowing out, then something is wrong with the motor. The salesman assured me that it's completely normal. Does anyone know anything about this, or does anyone have an Avenger that does something similar?

First off, welcome to DF
Second...
Define "squirting". With the car warmed up (oil too), the oil will get splashed around and some of it may pop up and get out. Remember, there are moving parts under that cap. Which motor are we talking about btw? As for the air, it's always present, the valve cover is connected to the intake in two places.
If you are worried about the motor being a lemon and you guys are serious about buying this car, I would take it to a garage and have them go over it for you. Just be forewarned, they do charge for checking cars, not a lot but the charge to check a car that you want/like is worth the charge of rebuilding a motor later

It's the 2.5 V6 engine. The salesman said it's totally normal, but I own a Grand Prix, and I can put my hand on the oil fill cap, and it will actually have a suction to it. So I guess this is not a bad thing for this car to do? If so, I will probably look into getting the car. Thanks.

Not saying the our cars are bad or anything, but i would for sure go with what silver said and get it checked out asap. Trust me it will be worth it. Everything. I'm sure you already intend on doing these things but sometimes it feels good to be told again

Thanx and good luck with the new car. Welcome to DF again.
Thanx Ben,

the oil you are referring to was the oiler on the head. That's how oil reaches the valves both my v-6s do that because the oiler is right under the oil fill cap pretty dumb to me but that's how they made. So you have no problem.
