Exhaust setup
I just got my flowmaster muffler off of my previous car and I'm going to put it on the avenger but was wondering what all I should take off. Should I just do a cat-back or should I just go ahead and get it all cut off and have the put the muffler in place of the cat-converter and then put in a Y pipe and run duals out the back (I like the look of dual exhaust but I know that doing a true duals setup wouldn't be the best for the car). or should I just cut off everything starting with the cat and then just run a single pipe to where the stock muffler is and simply have them put inmy new muffler that way I don't have to worry about having to replace the cat down the road (emissions tests aren't around here so who cares).
So basically I should just switch the mufflers. Oh and what about the resonator should I go ahead do a cat-back and just have them cut it off and go single outlet pipe. oh and what about the flowmaster on the 2.0 did you not like (I have a 2.0with acustom cold air intake I made myself) was it the sound or what? I am planning on just doing a cat-back and taking out the resonator and I will have a stock looking tip put on so it keeps a more sleeper look.
the 2.0 is my daily, and it couldn't sound more like a honda. it resounds from the buildings with no individual cylinders or growl at all. just a loud bwaaaaaaa with a gentle wheeee of a tin can. it's horrible, really horrible. in all fairness, i am an old man, and never liked the sound of a four cylinder. don't much like the six, but they can be acceptable. it's the only shame i feel in owning this particular avenger, it is obnoxious and i do hate it.
no offenses to anyone who has one or likes the sound of this. but even the 17yr old of the house finds it laughable, so it's not just a matter of me being old.

My buddy has got a 2.0 5 speed Venge. His exhaust is blown out before the second catalytic converter. It isREALLY LOUD andsounds like absolute ****. Seriously,if you want the power without the sound, something like a turbo muffler from Thrush or Dynomax would work good. The one on my car isnt at all loud while cruising, but really screams when I got it floored. Hope this helps.

thanks for the recommendation. I will keep that in mind when I get the money to purchase a newer muffler for the venge, but as for now I just need to know what setup I should use that way when I get a newer muffler it will just be a simple swap of mufflers, just out with the old and in with the new. Basically I am going to put on the flowmaster anyways even if it sounds like crap because the stock muffler has a whole is in along the bottom, and I have the flowmaster jsut laying around. So I want to know what all I should take out if any that way when it is time for the magnaflow or whatever I get, I can just pop it on and go. Hope thats a little more clear.
Check its like this for a NA 2.0L go 2 1/2 cat back Exhaust system. Word around here is dat the magnaflow gives a good amount HP without that horrible ricer sound that Mopaul mentioned.
