Default Interior light problems

My 96 ES has a wierd problem. When you open the drivers door the interior light doesn't come on. One would think the switch is bad???? But with the key in the ignition or the lights are on, when the door is open the buzzer starts going off. When the passenger door is opened the interior lights work just fine. I'm guessing that there is a relay somewhere, but I have no clue. Any ideas.

The door switch sounds bad to me. Not necessarily dead, just bad. The contacts can be dirty. There isn't a relay for the door switches and even if there was, there wouldn't be one for each door
Take the switch out and clean it with some WD-40. Spray it onto the contacts and work the switch back and forth, then put it back in (get as much of the excess fluid out before you put it back in).

Well you were right. I traded the switch with the passenger side and now it works. Guess I have to get a new switch for the passenger side. lol.

You can take the bad one apart. Gently pull back the rubber boot and clean it out with some WD-40. If you're brave, take it apart and lightly sand the contacts until the dirt, rust, or whatever you find is gone. It's not really hard at all. You can't break it, well, you can, but you've got to be pretty clumsy, lol.
Oh yeah, don't lose anything, do on a clean kitchen table or workbench with newpaper under it.

Where exactly are the switches located and how do you get to them? I have had the same problems and was told it was a bad switch. I haven't had much time to look for it so any help would be great.

You can see them as soon as you open the door. They are on the lower right hand side of the door "frame" on the driver's side and on your left on the passenger's side. It's a little black protrusion. They aren't hard to spot at all.
