To properly restore cloudy headlight lenses, you need to wetsand to at least 2000 grit, then compound and polish. Afterwards, always apply a LSP to prevent further yellowing. Using toothpaste is like sanding with 1000 grit sandpaper and then not buffing.

i wet sand at 1000 grit till it's white with no yellow left what so ever. then i use a buffing kit that goes on a drill and some clay to get the scratches out and put a rough finish on em then i use meguires plasticx and a wool buffing pad on my drill for the final finish. they look new (i mean that literally) and seem to last for a good while. i did it on my 91 ranger (i hated that it wasn't a dodge but it got me through a lot and it 330k on the clock) and that was 3 years ago. although i did have to add a set of driving lights to the dak to do it up right.

Tried the toothpaste Fri night. Bought kit yesterdat. Lenses were so bad it helped the lights a lot, just like a kid had ta go out last night and see. Hey I can now see!!! Also found out about adjusting , headlights. Also found out about broken adjusters. Someone or an accident adjusted the passengers side so that tightening just pulled the positioner thru the housing with no affect on lights. Krazy glue to the rescue.
