Default Dismal Day!Car carrier accident.

Listen to this one. Transporting 89 4x4 using a nationally car equipment company, towing with their truck. Used safety chains tire straps and wheel chocks. Two of us double checked all and also checked at 50, 125 and 225 miles for security. Hit pot hole at 35 mph in construction area. Tire straps let go both sides, dakota started off rear of trailer and safety chain's held it on trailer. THis is the second time I have had towing problem with their equipment, first time one tire strap actually broke it was so rotten. Now I have a clunk in he front end of the 89 from time to time. I guess I am going to have to do control arm bushings which looks like a real job. I had insurance but carrier company is claiming old vehicle and normal wear caused it. The tow truck was in such poor conditon we found a storage place close to our destination, unloaded the truck and parked the equipment. (Drove Dakota back home 325 miles, with no problems and actually got 22.9 mpg, 3.9 auto short bed with topper).

I'm going to assume it was U-haul, I've had the (dis)pleasure of using 2 if their trucks moving friends. They are all trash, I don't think I've seen any of them newer than what appear to be mid 90's trucks. Best advice I can give go to Ryder or Penske more expensive yes but you can get new diesel powered trucks and lift gates.
