Default Reading fault codes?

Still dont know how to do this. Finally took some time to get the 94, 318 4x4 with automatic, out of the yard and start fixing. Replaced frozen A/C compressor, fixed starter problem fixed turn signals and flashers. New problem is as follows. Very hard start. I have disconnected the battery and let the computer go back to basics, several times. Sometimes it starts totally correct, sometimes no. What I have found to start it makes no sense to me, considering its F.I. If I turn on the key till the fuel pump relay gives me the click i am used to and I crank it for a few seconds, stop and then pump the gas pedal a few times then hit the key it starts. I think the O2 sensor is out of the circuit for start so thats a no. Im thinking between Map sensor and TPS sensor Map makes more sense. Any ideas where to go next? Also how long do O2 sensors last, this one has 138K on it. Final thought is I added 10 gallons fresh fuel and F/I. cleaner while in the process. K.& N has been cleaned and no junk caught in the intake of the Cold air intake done last spring.

Update: Its a fuel pump assembly guys! Reading fuel problems here symptons are narrowed down to fuel drainage back to tank. I had always had to key the ignition on three times and wait for absence of a click out at the relay then start. For the past several days I have been dealing with 240 gallons of water a day in the yard, but fooling with the Dak intermittantly. I had gotten to only one hard start in the morning then fuel held, could start it any time after that with no problem. This morning I let the pump cycle 7 times instead of three. Truck started immediately! I guess my January retirement check will be buying a pump, (with Christmas and gifts for 4 grands the cash is rather limited right now). Hope these symptoms help any of you that are having start problems.!

We are having similar problem (posted in the other 1st Generation section of this forum). Look for our post "cold start problems" We have a '92 Dak. We replaced the MAP sensor and had to get one from Chrysler "ouch" but that didn't help. We are facing up to it being the pump but up here in Canada not a nice time to be doing that job. Good Luck and keep us posted.

The MAP sensor we got from Rock Auto and then one from NAPA, they were both the same but they were different from the one on our truck and the only place we could get the correct replacement was from Chrysler. Guess we will be dropping ours soon as well.

Might have given a bum steer on that. Now that I think about it I got MAP from a very good Carquest store. Napa guy in that town wanted to sell all but the kitchen sink and Auto zone had the wrong one. Sorry.
