Sorry to sound like a grumpy old fart, but please elaborate.

Are you putting a V8 into a V8 dakota, a V8 into an I4 Dakota? Makes a difference.

Short answer is, tho, yes you can. A 99 V8 will work in a 95 Dakota, you just need to take all the 99 stuff off the engine and install the 95 stuff.

Check the FAQ2 page for the most info, but in short, your going from a OBDII to OBDI computer stuff. all wiring, sensors, etc have to be changed as well as the oil pan and some other odds and ends.

then life is easy. Swap all your 5.2 stuff over to the newer engine. You will need to swap over the throttle body, all the sensors, oil pan and possibly pickup screen, dipstick(most likely) and make sure you have the right pcm, If your going to a 5.9 you will need the right pcm(ram unit works fine) and an intrepid fuel pressure regulator to get 60psi in the fuel system. use your stock exhuast and wire harness and engine mounts.
