93 dodge dakota gas in my oil
I recently bought a 93 dodge dakota 3.9 v6 automatic . The truck did fine until a couple days ago. I started drivin down the road and it seemed sluggish like it had bad gas and it seemed as if it wouldnt gear down or gear up and when i punched the gas to it, it kick in really hard and go back to being sluggish. I parked it and ran the codes on it and it said the fuel system was lean. I also checked the oil and it smelled like gas. Also when I start it up I have to give it a lil gas or it will die.. Any help would be appreciated
You solve the problem yet ?
For sure fuel filter change.
Change oil, and determine if there is gas in the oil. ???? Injectors leaking would be my best guess, that is the only way. If this is fuel getting into the oil ?

If you haven't fixed it check out TSB 09-07-97
If you think this is the issue I recommend you go with the Hughes Engines Plenum kit as they provide a new 1/4" aluminum plenum so the fix is permanent. The Dodge TSB fix leaves the problem there to happen again. The problem is the sheet steel plenum expanding and contracting at a different rate from the Aluminum intake which eventually destroys the gaskets. This allows oil into the intake. Symptoms of this failure include any or all of: rough idle, lack of power, oil consumtion, heavy spark knock under load, random/multiple misfires (commonly seen on cylinder 1,3, and 8 ), poor mpg. I had oil on the bottom of the butterfly in the TB but no noticeable oil consumption.
If you do it Hughes supplies phone support and instructions. Get new bolts.
