93 Dakota 318 transmission auto swap
Okay so here is my problem my Dakota finally dropped out at 315k its the transmission
go figure my question is since i cant seem to find that pos anywhere thats not 1600 what else can i do to get it back on the road its the automatic prefer not to switch to the manual since my accident wont allow me to press the clutch so please help me
$1600? what do you get for that? THEY pull and reinstall a freshly overhauled unit WITH a reman torque converter, and a guarantee? You'd better get at least that for that kind of money...
if my trannys die, I pull them, open them up and rebuild them myself. I have a 92 myself right now with a flaky overdrive, can't decide if I just want to fix that or if I want to rebuild the whole unit, even though it really don't need it.
I bought my 96 4X4 with the trans and transfer case laying in the bed back around New Year's, that tranny I rebuilt about 3 months ago and my wife is driving it daily.
failing that, check the junkyards, Craigslist or even some of the forums for sale sections. look for someone "parting out" a Dakota, full sized van or a full sized pickup....
