Default Transfer case question

I have a 96 dodge Dakota v8 magnum, I busted the transfercaae and had to replace it. Well I got a transfer case out of a 98 dodge Durango. The new transfercase doesn't have the speed sensor like the old one dose so I was wondering what could I do to make the speedometer work?

Your speed sensor is located on the transmission tail adaptor.

That's the trans output speed sensor. It does not drive the speedometer, it is for the PCM to determine shift points. His VSS was indeed on the tailhousing for the t-case, and the 98 t-case won't have provision for it. Either need the correct year t-case, or, get the output shaft, and tailhousing off the old case, and transplant them. (which involves completely disassembling both t-cases.......)
