Probably more option package; my LWB 1988 has a front anti sway bar.
Also, 4x4 would have some ASB action from the torsion bars.

True, but I think all 4x4 came with the front anti-sway bar too.
As for the option package I couldn't find mention of it being part of an option in the parts cat, and the 93 I don't recall if that was an LE or not but I will look today. The 93 had wheel opening trims (flares) so it wasn't completely base. The other LWB truck that didn't have one was repainted and I couldn't tell what trim level it was but it might have been base.
The 93 was unfortunate, the body was rather nice and the bed appeared to be in good shape around the rear wheel openings, but of course the JY loader jockeys completely roached one side when they moved it around. Just another part they won't be able to sell, and I would think in this scrap environment where value is low that they would want to try and extract the most they could from the vehicles they have...oh well.

There's at least one 4x4 without in the local boneyard, a 1990. And without the frame brackets (that drop down for the sway bar bushings) or even any evidence it ever had them.

Are you talking about the front frame brackets? I was under the impression that all the 4x4 Dakotas (our gen) have the sway bar attachment behind the front axle, attached directly to the frame. At least that's what I've found and what the parts cat shows.
That may be; I'll have to look again. But there isn't an ASB on that truck.

Interesting, I would think that very odd on a 4x4 truck, even with torsion bar front suspension. If I had more examples to survey I would take a look but my JY is very thin on gen ones right now and even moreso on gen one 4x4 trucks.
There is a JY and a scrap yard I will be visiting in the near future, they both have a very robust supply of gen one trucks, I'll do a small survey of what they have, both 4x2 and 4x4, to see how the ASB situation pans out.
I found on my build sheet an option code SHAS (front stabilizer bar), and based on the dimensions for the bushings listed on RA for RWD trucks it looks like it's a 1" bar. I haven't measured mine yet but at a glance I'd say the 1" measurement is probably true.
Still can't believe that by the 90's all Dakota trucks didn't get this as standard equipment.
