I just took delivery of a 1989 Sport Convertible 4x4. I've been looking for one for a few years but didn't want to take on a project but also didn't want to break the bank buying a fully renovated truck. I found this one in North Dakota and although it has 180k miles and is mostly original, it
is in great shape. I've had it for a couple of weeks now and the condition was better than expected. No rust, great interior, mechanically sound. The only issues I've noticed are wrong decals, bad oil pressure sender, dead radio/headunit, and a loose wiper/turn signal stalk. I will also need to convert the a/c system at some point (and get a new steering wheel cover - LOL).
I am excited to have this truck and look forward joining this community!
Stuff I've done in the last two weeks:
1. Changed engine oil/filter, front and rear diff oil and transfer case oil.
2. Changed plugs, wires and distributor cap
3. Replaced headunit and speakers
4. Installed Undercover SwingCase Bed Storage Box
5. Installed Bully WTD-823 Stainless Steel Cargo Tie-down Clamps
6. Installed a LED Roll Bar light since there is no interior dome light
7. Installed a strip of white LED lights under the bed rail (waterproof and battery operated so no wiring needed)
8. Replace tailgate cables
9. Replaced wipers
10. Replace oil pressure sender
I have; but then, I was replacing all the system also.
One thing to consider is possibly something like RedTek R12A (a hydrocarbon based refrigerant - like today's 1234yc refrigerant) instead of the being-depreciated R134a that's not being used much in new vehicles and which is supposed to be discontinued.
