1996 Dakota Battery wrong connection
Hi, some months ago my battery died on my 96 dakota and I had to use my 98 Toyota sienna to start it up, the thing is I didn't know the sienna's battery had inverted polarity and I connected the positive on the negative and vice versa, I instantly got some big sparks and some smoke from the battery, I thought the trucks computer got burnt so I left it sitting for months. Last week I decided to fix the truck, I put a new battery and start the truck, it starts but the alternator starts smoking, the wiring harness from the alt got burned and the alt itself broke, I repaired the alt but I can't find the wiring harness. I got a 91 dakota harness and adapted it to my alt it seemed to work but my "GEN" light came in the cluster. I was wondering if any of you guys know where I can find a proper wiring harness and if you know any other problems that come with a bad battery connection.
