I haven't checked Fed DOT mostly because I don't care about them, they don't really have much jurisdiction anywhere, but my Iowa DOT I checked beforehand to avoid this. I've been running H4 'French' yellow bulbs for over a decade.

And as I said the fog / driving lights illuminate the road to the front / sides of the vehicle where I like the added light...so I use them.

There are a lot of regulations that people don't bother with. Look at the lifted trucks. I see them WAY higher than D.O.T. regulations allow but it's up to the states and most don't bother. I did see a truck with the "Carolina Squat" setup today. They were popular initially but then reality set in. Bumpers were catching on manhole covers and in one case that stopped the truck dead, trailer hitch receiver.

I never really understood that mod..... Why would you want to compromise your view of what is in front of you that badly?

It's the "in" thing. At least it didn't have the egg beater extensions on the wheels. Those didn't last long as our potholes will send them flying real fast. I've never seen the point of leveling kits on pickups, but I usually use my truck to haul. If someone just wants it for transportation, hey, it's their truck.

I wish I'd have hit record on my dash cam when that one truck last year drove over where they were resurfacing the road and caught his trailer hitch receiver on a manhole cover sticking up. Darn near pulled it off, it sure bent it outward.

So I made a little trip today, about hundred miles north of me there was a Dakota bed. Mine was never in very good shape and the rust was doing its thing...especially under the wheel flares....which I never liked anyway.

It was always my intent to remove the flares...except that there's so much rust under there...but now I'll be able to get rid of the flares and the black side moldings too. The replacement isn't perfect...but it was cheap, and it came with another tailgate in good shape too. Only annoyance is that the seller didn't disclose the one broken bolt that I'll have to drill out.

Tomorrow installing the tonneau cover from the 'Sport' that I got that bunch of red body parts off of.

I still have to paint the new right fender, but I only have one 8oz can of paint and there isn't another one in town. I have to special order it.

And picked this up today too...it was on the reg cab / short bed that donated the AX15 trans and all the trans components for my truck (yet to be installed).

I wasn't that excited about it but it is ARE and the struts are good so it does work fine, and the JY made me a deal on it. I also picked up the driver door off the same truck since it doesn't have any flange rust at the bottom and mine does.

It doesn't look bad in the photo cuz it's wet, but the clear coat is junk...it'll take a sanding and buffing and probably some respray of the clear in some areas too to make it look reasonable.
